Clubs
As a junior, I decided it was time to step it up and get myself more involved with my school. I joined NHS, DECA, Interact sponsored by Rotary and Diversity club. Each of these clubs appeal to me and help me branch out of my comfort zone.
While I was involved in DECA, my partner Hannah and I placed at regionals and qualified for the state conference. This was a pretty big deal considering the fact that it was my first year competing in an event that is very competitive. I joined DECA because I am interested in marketing and consider myself very informed in that field. We also attended a leadership conference in Detroit where we learned valuable information about leadership and many other topics.
Interact was a new club that was started this year. I was interested in this club because all of their activities were fundraisers or events that helped others. I was elected on the Executive Board as the secretary of Public Relation. This year, we donated over 1,000 books to kids in need, dozens of homemade blankets to the children's hospital and raised money through a bake sale for soldiers overseas. Currently, we are brainstorming ideas for our worldwide project that will those in need from other countries
Diversity club was another club that I was involved in as a Junior. In this club, we discuss how we can help make social justice more common. We met every other week and I really enjoyed talking with others in my school about how we can gain justice in our society. We also put on a Ethnic Fair in the spring to celebrate all of the cultures present in our community. I participated in the Indian Fashion Show and it was so fun to experience
this. I was also elected to be the officer of Public Relations for the upcoming school year.
I was inducted into NHS on March 29th, 2016 and was elected General Secretary on May 3rd, 2016. As General Secretary, I am responsible for taking attendance, checking in on members and assisting the other officers. I am honored to be an Officer for this organization because it focuses on scholarship, service and leadership. All three of these things are so important to me and I cannot wait to see what next year holds for our chapter.
